134 runners took part in the first ever staging of the Midsummer Mad Dash on Tuesday night. A great evening was had by all & I think we all agree it was a fantastic night, and £618 was raised for charity.
A bigTHANK YOUto all the team, marshall's, runners etc for making this a huge success.
Here are just a few of people's comments :-
I went to see my husband Mark Gore run the 5mile race at Highgreen yesterday and have to say how much I enjoyed it. This was the first race my husband ran for 20 years and was the first time my daughter and I have attended such an event. I was impressed at how organised the race was and how many people turned up to support the charity. The atmosphere was that lovely that I have now decided to start running with my daughter. So thank you ...
I was the driver for Rich, Glyn and Mark(B) and made myself comfy with the newspaper while the lads got their race numbers. Also running for us were Paul and Ron, Ron being the first one home for VHR., both he and Paul did PBs.Mind you the way that Glyn (big smile on face) and Mark(sprint finish) it wont be too long before they give the Dark Peak fell lot a run for their money.Me id rather climb over stiles Joking!
Ian D & Ian G ventured out early this morning to take part in the Halifax Sailing Club Mountain Bike Challenge. A very demanding 25 mile off road route.
It was Ian's first go at a proper mtb event, after being talked into it by Ian D. The weather was unbelievably windy (force 8) and the terrain was very tough. Ian G finished in a very respectable time , even though he lost his rear wheel at one point ! His finishing comment was "the London Marathon was a piece of cake compared to this !" I think that's what he said anyway !!
