I was the driver for Rich, Glyn and Mark(B) and made myself comfy with the newspaper while the lads got their race numbers. Also running for us were Paul and Ron, Ron being the first one home for VHR., both he and Paul did PBs.Mind you the way that Glyn (big smile on face) and Mark(sprint finish) it wont be too long before they give the Dark Peak fell lot a run for their money.Me id rather climb over stiles Joking!
Ian D & Ian G ventured out early this morning to take part in the Halifax Sailing Club Mountain Bike Challenge. A very demanding 25 mile off road route.
It was Ian's first go at a proper mtb event, after being talked into it by Ian D. The weather was unbelievably windy (force 8) and the terrain was very tough. Ian G finished in a very respectable time , even though he lost his rear wheel at one point ! His finishing comment was "the London Marathon was a piece of cake compared to this !" I think that's what he said anyway !!
Well organised but not totally flat(only the canal section!!)Mostly off road with STILES that are far too high for people with SHORT legs and if you are not fast enough to be in the front have to queue to get over them. However a good coolmax tshirt for all runners(pity it was red). A clubhouse with a bar so Rich had his pint and for me a welcome sports massage for my short legs.Rich got 1st over 60 prize.
